About the Forsyth Amateur Radio Club (FARC)
The Forsyth Amateur Radio Club (FARC) was originally incorporated as
the Winston-Salem Radio Club on December 31, 1930 and has been
in operation ever since. FARC is an ARRL sanctioned Special Service Club
focusing on the education and training of hams and the general public in
Forsyth and surrounding counties. FARC has over 300 members.
FARC is a non-profit (IRS 501(c)3) and donations are tax deductable.
FARC has a well equipped and modern ham shack for use by club members. It is recommended that members wanting to use the Elecraft K3 transceivers in the club hamshack download the users and errata manuals for the K3 (links below) and also view the following video about using the K3. Note that the video is large and make a bit of time to download. Members will also have to go over an operational checklist with key FARC members on the FARC hamshack setup. The setup is designed to make using club equipment as easy and as safely as possible.
FARC also maintains three repeaters-one with a wide service area and has significant ARES involvement in assisting in emergency and non-emergency events.
FARC has two hamfests each year normally held the second Saturday in January and the second Saturday in June. FARC is also very active in the annual ARRL Field Day held the last weekend in June. Consult the Monthly Meeting and Special Events tab for the latest news, date and location on these events.
FARC is also active in contests. Some world-class contesters are club members!!
FARC has monthly meetings held the second Monday of each month. Most meetings are broadcast via W4NC-Live. Consult the Meeting Info tab for more information on upcoming meetings and how to access W4NC-Live. Meetings are held in the basement of the Red Cross, 690 Coliseum Dr., Winston-Salem, N.C.
